FEATURED WINE

Landmark Late Harvest Riesling 2008

Palate:
A strongly fruit driven wine with hints of botrytis influence. The initial sweet entry is well balanced with crisp acidity and a refreshingly dry finish. The wine is succulent but not cloying with excessive residual sugar.

Suggested Food Match:
Perfect complement to cheese, pate and fruit platters. Serve lightly chilled.

Shayne Cox - Winemaker

Profile:

Shayne Cox - Winemaker Shayne is unashamedly 'old world' in approach. His years of experience in Europe have given him a love of European wines with their magnificent structural qualities. For Artisan, he successfully marries this approach with the 'new world' love of clean fruit driven wines.

Shayne acts as chief winemaker, overseeing all of our regional winemaking activity. His input ensures a consistency of style and quality through a hands-on approach and attention to detail.

History:

Shayne trained at a number of New Zealand wineries before venturing overseas, where he gained extensive experience with the wines of southern France, Spain, Italy and Chile.

Rex Sunde - Viticulturist

Profile:

Rex Sunde - Viticulturist Rex is one of a handful of consulting viticulturists listed by New Zealand Wine Growers, the official body of the New Zealand Wine Industry.

At least one day a week is spent hands-on in his own vineyard, working with the vines. Here he aims to create a vineyard which will become recognised as New Zealand's best producer of Syrah.

History:

Rex is a committed West Aucklander, and someone who feels totally 'at home' in the vineyard. He trained at Massey University and qualified with a degree in horticulture.
