The Best Paddock is part of our Valley East Estate which lies at the eastern end of Blenheim’s Wairau Valley. The traditional use of this paddock was for lambing, calving and the highest value crops, so for generations it has been known as ‘the best paddock’.
The soils in this block are quite heavy silts and clays. Clay gives to the soil what it does to wine, structure and backbone, whilst silt gives aromatic character and finesse. This dry farmed vineyard is on land that has been farmed by three generations of the Kennedy family.
The colour is bright ruby with the classic Pinot noir nose of vibrant red and black fruits and savoury notes. The silky elegant tannins in the mid palate and excellent length complete the picture.
The wine is well suited to red meats in particular beef dishes. Will also match well with spicy or herbed dishes with savoury notes.
