This close spaced vineyard sits on a sloping site with well drained clay soils. It is a hand managed combination of multiple clones of Cabernet franc and Merlot.
The wine is deeply coloured and well structured. The aromatics are subtle on opening, with spice and the distinct herbal note of Cabernet franc to the fore. As the wine opens, vibrant blackberry, cassis, ripe plums and sweet spicy oak evolve.
Just prior to release this wine was chosen by New Zealand Winegrowers in blind tasting for their international marketing of New Zealand wines. Only 2 Cabernet Merlots were chosen!
A wine to complement any red met. The vibrant and intense fruit character will be an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat, game or strongly flavored foods.
